Most people attempt to adjust their mirrors while driving. This kind of habit can prove to be dangerous and distracting.
The rear-view mirrors are an important part of scanning while driving.
It ensures our safety and the safety of other driving on the road. Some examples where rear-view mirror works very well.
- Checking rearview mirror before quick stop or a sudden hard brake.
- It helps a lot while changing lanes e.g., suppose you want to switch to the right lane from the middle lane and if you found the same vehicle on both mirrors (right side mirror and rear-view mirror)
It is safe for a lane change. However, if you see the vehicle only in the right/left side mirror and not in the rearview mirror then it’s not considered to be safe for a lane change.
